CLAYHATCHEE: Tonight the Town of Clayhatchee will meet. According to TEXT RICKEY 334-790-1729 there could be discussion on closing the Clayhatchee Police Department.
Clayhatchee is in Dale County and touches both Houston County and Coffee County. If the Mayor and Town Council closes the police department then all law enforcement will fall under the Dale County Sheriff Department. The FACEBOOK for Clayhatchee, appears not update since June 10, shows the Town is closed. RSN is unable to confirm if this item is on the agenda.
Information is the Town of Clayhatchee, while having a police department in reality does not have a police department because they currently have no Chief or Police Officers. The communications and 911 currently come under Daleville Department of Public Safety. Even with a police department any major crimes would have required Dale County Sheriff Department to investigate. The police department would have only worked misdemeanors.
Several meetings of the Mayor and Town Council for Clayhatchee have been heated over the past sseveral months. RSN has had information about the meetings but has not had the staff to cover the meetings. RSN will attempt to have someone cover the meeting but if unable someone TEXT RICKEY 334-790-1729 and let me know.
It would probably be a good time to get some popcorn and attend!
